Stefan Collini is professor of English Literature and Intellectual History at the University of Cambridge. He is the author of Public Moralists: Political Thought and Intellectual Life in Britain, 1850-1930 (1991), Matthew Arnold: A Critical Portrait (1994), Absent Minds: Intellectuals in Britain (2006), and Speaking of Universities (2017). His essays have appeared in The Nation, The Times Literary Supplement, and The London Review of Books, among other publications.
