Nicholas McDowell is a professor of Early Modern Literature and Thought at the University of Exeter. McDowell is particularly interested in the Civil Wars of the 17th century, and on key literary figures such as John Milton. He has published a plethora of articles and book chapters and has been recognized by the award of a Philip Leverhulme Prize in Modern European Languages by the Leverhulme Trust.
